Interfor implements lumber production curtailments across North American regions.

Wood Raw materials market
Interfor Corporation has outlined plans to decrease lumber production by 175 million board feet from May to September 2024, representing nearly 10% of its regular output.

The production reductions will impact all operational regions of Interfor, including the US South, through measures such as adjusted operating hours, extended holiday breaks, and modified shifting schedules.

These cutbacks are a direct response to prolonged weak market conditions, with declining lumber prices attributed to an imbalance between supply and demand.

Alongside this recent announcement, Interfor previously announced the indefinite curtailment of sawmill operations in Philomath, Oregon, in February 2024.

The Philomath sawmill, with an annual capacity of 220 million board feet, ceased operations at the end of March 2024.
