    Total U.S. Printing-Writing Paper Shipments Increased 13% in April 2024.

    Total printing-writing paper inventory levels in April 2024 decreased 2% when compared to March 2024.

    May 22, 2024 - The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) has released the April 2024 Printing-Writing Monthly report. According to the report, total printing-writing paper shipments increased 13% in April compared to April 2023.
    U.S. purchases of total printing-writing papers decreased 1% in March compared to the same month last year.
    Total printing-writing paper inventory levels decreased 2% when compared to March 2024.
    Unlike previous months, changes in U.S. shipments across the 3 major P-W categories (UFS, CFS, and MECH) in April all showed increases compared to the same period last year.
    • Uncoated free sheet (UFS) shipments increased by 9%,
    • coated free sheet (CFS) shipments increased by 22%, and
    • mechanical (MECH) paper shipments increased by 25%.
