Industry leaders are making noteworthy inroads to prioritize a green future, however, and perhaps the biggest advantage is that they are working together. If there is one central theme or commonality that has come to light, it is that collaboration has become more commonplace globally even among competitors. A research report by an international journal on 2022 Sustainability Report has looked into the preparations of the apparel industry in delivering on its collective promises on the Road to 2030, what systems and initiatives are working, and where the potholes and pitfalls still lie. It may be noted that the United Nations adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) designed to empower individuals and businesses alike to tackle climate change and maintain a habitable ecosystem by 2030 back in 2015. With 2030 now just eight years away, the stakes to reach these goals are even higher, particularly in the fashion industry, where textile waste and other energy-wasting processes remain rampant.
