Vietnamese textile and apparel exports reached US $3.4 billion in August 2023, up 5.5 percent over July 2023.
August marks the fourth consecutive month in which textile and garment exports have risen compared to the earlier month.
In the first eight months of the current year, textile and clothing exports totaled $22.5 billion, a drop of 14.4 percent as against similar months of the previous year.
Between January and August 2023, exports to the US declined to $10 billion, down 22.4 percent, to the EU touched $2.66 billion or down 11.9 percent and those to South Korea reached 2.08 billion, also down 3 percent, all from a year ago period.
Apparel stocks of various US garment brands and retailers have fallen sharply, so there is a likelihood of retailers restocking their shelves with fresh stocks, which will lead to an increase in export orders.
