Ontario is urging the (DoC) US Department of Commerce to terminate tariffs on Canadian softwood lumber exports.

Ontario's forest sector generates $21 billion in revenue and supports 142,000 jobs.

Canadian lumber exporters have been dealing with U.S. duty deposits since April 2017 and the government is dissatisfied with the recent DoC's decision of decreasing duty rates.

Ontario’s trade rules are damaging Canadian lumber producers and adding extra costs for consumers on both sides of the border.
