Western Australia unveils forest management plan for 2024–33.

Wood BUSINESS & TRADE
Western Australia's new Forest Management Plan marks the end of commercial logging in native forests, covering a vast area of over 2.5 million hectares in the southwest.

Starting January 1st, the plan puts a stop to large-scale timber harvesting in native forests.

A commitment is made to set aside more than 400,000 hectares of karri, jarrah, and wandoo forests as nature reserves, national parks, and conservation parks.

The plan highlights the importance of involving Traditional Owners in forest management, following the principles of the South West Native Title Settlement.
