Q2 sees 30% dip in lumber imports from top European suppliers to US.

Wood BUSINESS & TRADE
US softwood lumber imports from the EU saw a slowdown in Q2, following a strong beginning to the year, impacting the foreign lumber demand in H1.

Imports from the top EU suppliers dropped by 30%, totaling 428 million board feet during Q2. This volume was 12% lower than the record-setting Q1.

European shipments to the US reached their lowest quarterly total since Q4 2021.

US imports from Europe showed a 12% increase to 1.04 billion board feet in the first half compared to the same period a year ago.

The downward trend in exports to the US and reduced production in Europe contribute to the declining export scenario.

In the offshore market, North American exports continued to struggle due to weak demand in key markets, though a slight second-quarter rebound was observed.
